There are a lot of changes made in the design and mechanism of these blades. But the two most important features of these knives are still the same, which are as follows:

  1. The blade is completely inside the handle.
  2. It will only come out when the user will press the button or sometimes the switch, which is placed on the handle.

Some Popular Types of Switchblade Knife:

Now let us tell you about types of a switchblade pocket knife.

1. Side-Opening Knife:

This knife is very similar to a folding knife as in this kind of switchblades, the blade of the knife comes out from the side of the handle and this feature makes it the simplest and easiest type of knife among all.

2. OTF (Out-Of-The-Front) Switchblade Knife:

This version of the switchblade is totally different from others. The reason is that in this version, the blade comes out from the tip of the handle and the blade never comes out from the side like the side opening switchblades.
As well, the blade is hardened from both of the sides. So, if you don’t know how to use this knife, you should be very careful as you can cause injuries to yourself.

3. Single Action OTF Switchblade:

This type of switchblade knives are considered to be the cheapest ones and anyone can buy them easily. These blades are constructed with very fewer parts, whereas the lesser parts knives are sold at low prices.
Moreover, when you take out your knife, it won’t automatically open by a button. You have to press a button manually. The button is located inside the handle. Also, one extra feature of this switchblade is that it comes with a double spring set that is called the double-action OTF.

4. Double Action OTF Switchblade:

The majority of switchblade users consider this knife the most convenient one. The reason is that it opens quickly by pressing a button, and the blade comes out. Conversely, you can push the button to close the blade inside the handle.
These knives are the easiest option to carry as there are no chances of accidental opening of the blade. Double action OTF switchblades are better than single-action OTFs because they come up with an extra feature. Also, these blades are considered to be the best EDC knives that can fulfill all of your daily needs.
Furthermore, you can easily carry them without the fear of injury to oneself.

Conclusion:

Thus, a switchblade knife is divided into four basic types and you can select any of them according to your requirements. But, always be cautious while carrying and using as these blades are very sharp and can cause severe damage and injuries to you or anyone around you.
